Emergency personnel from the Yuma Fire Department treat a male victim who was hit by a vehicle while crossing 4th Avenue at 7th Street on his bike Friday afternoon. The male victim was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. No other injuries were reported. No further information was available.

Bicyclist hit at 4th Avenue and 7th Street

A bicyclist was transported to the hospital after being hit by vehicle at 4th Avenue and 7th Street at about 11:45 a.m. Friday. The driver was uninjured.

According to the Yuma Police Department, the collision happened when the driver of a vehicle traveling eastbound on 7th Street made a left turn and entered onto 4th Avenue. At that time the bicyclist, traveling westbound on 7th Street, was crossing 4th Avenue and was struck by the vehicle in the intersection.

YPD did not release the identity of the 36-year-old cyclist or the 49-year-old driver involved in the incident.

Investigators do not believe either individual was impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The case is currently under investigation. Police encourage anyone with any information about this case to call Investigator Lawson with the YPD Traffic Unit at 373-4700 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
