Blame ourselves for country's path
I'm sure that the comments by C.O. Jones were appreciated by many of us in the 3/4 of a century club who took time to read his opinions regarding gun laws, anti-gun wackos and weak-kneed politicians.
Some may remember the drama from the wackos when a group of sickos blew up a federal building in Oklahoma a few years back. Their demands were to stop production of the type of fertilizer used in the explosion. Guns were not the issue, only the fertilizer.
Loud screams were heard from wackos when the safety of airline travelers came to the forefront due to sickos with plastic bombs and box cutters. Something had to be done immediately.
Solution: eliminate all box cutters.
Instead, the government installed screening devices, which caused the screaming to grow louder. The wackos maintained their privacy was invaded.
Almost every day we are informed of a sicko who has again taken a life or lives using a knife, hammer, stone, car or a weapon. In many cases, he has recently been released from prison where he spent some time for doing the same thing. But, he didn't receive the death penalty because the wackos have put enough pressure on weak-kneed politicians to almost eliminate the death penalty in exchange for rehab, forgiving and understanding. Question: Can rehab success can be measured in different ways?
As a society, we have found it much easier to place blame on everyone but ourselves for the path this great country seems to have taken recently. It appears that when you combine melodrama reporting, truthless and trustless politicians, 15 minutes of fame wackos and desperate sickos, the message is clear: arm yourself if you want to survive.
