Teeing Off: Tom Watson in full form
Tom Watson shot a 64 Saturday, and if he keeps it up he'll be carding his age in no time. The 60-year-old Watson shot a 6-under and has a four-stroke going into today's final round at the Senior Players Championship.
He's proving that his performance three months ago at the British Open was no fluke when he finished second to Stewart Cink and proved that some things get better with age.
More importantly, Watson is a symbol of the most desirable attribute a golfer can have, consistency, which I saw in Scottsdale nine years ago at The Countrywide Tradition's final round. When Watson tee'd up I saw how relaxed he was on each shot.
That day he carded a 70 and finished in a three-way tie with Tom Kite and Larry Nelson. Nine years later he still has the same relaxed stroke that I continuously fail to emulate.
