Yoga promotes healthy skin
Stephanie Martin, mind-body wellness practitioner and owner of Steph's Holistic Healing in Yuma, says yoga can lend itself to a holistic approach to healthy skin.
“There are a lot of flare-ups with skin that are related to stress, and there is a droop we can see in the faces of friends and family going through stressful times,” she says.
“But yoga is well known and used for managing stress. You're doing deep breathing, you're increasing the flow of blood, and all of that is going to give you more of that glow and that healthier skin.”
Immediate, temporary results can be seen after a yoga session, and with regular practice cumulative results become apparent, she says.
She recommends practicing simple, gentle yoga poses that almost anyone can do, regardless of age or ability.
She is shown here demonstrating two of her favorite poses for readers to try at home. They require no warm-up or preparation. However, she advises consulting a doctor before starting any new exercise such as yoga.
