Gila Ridge wins season opener
Hawks top Kings, Criminals
The Gila Ridge boys and girls cross country teams both won their three-way meets with Yuma and Kofa Wednesday at Kofa.
The Hawks' boys team won with 20 points, followed by Yuma with 34 and Kofa with 78. Gila Ridge had four top five finishes including Shane Hengesh (first), Josh Segura (second), Juan Marquez (third) and Daniel Conley (fifth). Yuma's Jesus Rojas took fourth.
Gila Ridge's girls team won with 26 points, followed by Yuma with 38 and Kofa with 57. The Hawks had three top five finishes including Loren Cradic (first), Heaven Shore (second) and Candra Land (third). Yuma's Nadia Salinas and Jazmin Ortiz took fourth and fifth, respectively.
It was the first meet of the season for all three schools.
