Womenomics Webcast

The Webcast, Womenomics, will be presented at noon Thursday at the Yuma Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive, by United Way of Yuma County in conjunction with the Women's Leadership Council.

Women are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy the 45-minute presentation during which Claire Shipman of "Good Morning America" and Katy Kay of the BBC News will share the message of their book, "Womenomics."

Learn how to write your own rules for success and how to "stop juggling and struggling and finally start living and working the way you really want."

E-mail account class

A beginner's class on how to open an e-mail account will be presented at 3 p.m. July 16 at the Foothills Library, 13226 E. South Frontage Road.

Presenter Veronica Davis will discuss choosing a user name, setting a password and how to log in and out of your account.

There is no charge to attend, but space is limited and reservations are suggested by calling the library at 342-1640.

Employee safety training

Yuma Area Safety Council and the Arizona Fish and Game Department are hosting an employee safety training workshop on wild life July 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Yuma Safety Center at, 3143 E. 33rd Place, Suite A in the Ramster Industrial Park.

Realtor safety seminar

The Yuma Association of Realtors and local real estate brokers are bringing a realtor safety seminar to Yuma. The class, which will be free to local real estate agents, will be from 2 to 5 p.m. July 16 at the Yuma Civic Center.

The presenter will be Andrew Wooten, president of Safety Awareness Firearms Education (S.A.F.E.), who has been in the safety and security industry for the past 24 years and created Crime Awareness Prevention Seminars.

This course is designed specifically for real estate professionals, who will learn how to conduct a background check on a potential buyer or renter; ways to keep themselves, their customers and customers' personal information' safe during an open house; how to identify the elements of identity theft and show their customers how not be to victimized; steps to take should they or their client become a victim; the key factors to remaining safe at home; steps to take if being stalked; and how to make someone let go of them under threat.

Workplace Excellence
nominations sought

Nominations are now being accepted for this year's Workplace Excellence, an annual awards program that recognizes businesses in Yuma with excellent people practices.

Businesses are nominated by employees. Awards recognize best practices in small, medium and large businesses, one overall winner and one special award winner. Winners will be recognized at a luncheon Nov. 4.

The program, now in its fifth year, was created by the Southwest Arizona Human Resources Association and the Yuma Sun.

Creating Bridges
of Opportunity


The Yuma County Farm Worker Service Coalition will present Creating Bridges of Opportunity from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 17 at the Fernando Padilla Community Center in San Luis, Ariz.

Information will be provided on health care and preventative measures, job training and placement services, English and GED classes, immigration, Violence Against Women's Act, human rights, fraud, housing and legal custody.

Refreshments will be provided.
