Parent expresses concern over video
A concerned parent sent a link to the Yuma Sun to a video that appeared to show disruption by students of a class at Gila Vista Junior High School.
The video, which was posted on the media site You Tube, shows a handful of boys who appear to be roughhousing with each other for several minutes, occasionally looking into the camera.
The parent said she was concerned about the chaos with no apparent effort by the teacher to restore order to the classroom.
The Yuma Sun was unable to contact the parent Saturday.
"I became aware of it when the news media did," Darwin Stiffler, Yuma School District 1 superintendent, told the Yuma Sun Saturday afternoon.
"We are investigating," he said. "We've begun a thorough investigation."
Stiffler said he couldn't comment further on the incident.
