Worker safety classes for November
OSHA classes for November include Excavation Safety Awareness and Forklift Train-the-Trainer.
Both will be held Tuesday at the Yuma Main Library, with excavation safety awareness from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and forklift training from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Sports turf show
Yuma Parks and Recreation and the Sports Turf Managers Association of Arizona will present the 17th annual Sports Turf and Equipment Show from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Yuma Civic Center.
Geared toward everyone from the professional turf manager to the home dweller who wants some tips on lawn care, Turf Show seminar topics will include irrigation, creative outdoor lighting, innovative ideas in graffiti abatement, and tree selection and planting. Vendors will have equipment displays and demonstrations.
Registration is $10 per person. Advance registration is encouraged; call ahead with a credit card to 373-5243. On-site registration will be available from 7 to 8 a.m. the day of the event.
Sponsors include Horizon, Yuma Nursery, Simpson Norton, Hunter Industries and Golf Ventures West.
Beginning QuickBooks
A two-day beginners' QuickBooks workshop is being offered in early December by the Arizona Western College Small Business Development Center.
The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and Dec. 10 at the AWC Entrepreneurial Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive. Cost of $110 includes the textbook.

Grant writing program
The Grant Writing Training Foundation will present Federal Grants 101 for nonprofit organizations in Arizona and California from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Hampton Inn and Suites, 1600 E. 16th St.
The workshop will provide information on the peer review process for grant applications once they're submitted for funding review. Participants will learn how to be part of the peer review process and how to improve their own grant writing efforts.

The Humor Advantage
The second in the 2009-10 Yuma Training Alliance series will be The Humor Advantage from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 at the Yuma Civic Center.
