Da Boyz Pizza and Pasta
Best Pizza
The pizza served up at Da Boyz Pizza and Pasta has lots of fans.
That's judging by the fact that it was picked as Best Pizza in 2009 in Yuma's Best, the annual poll done by the Yuma Sun of its readership's favorite businesses and services in Yuma County.
And now the pizza has the prospect of being doubly popular, with the opening of a second restaurant in downtown Yuma.
The original restaurant is located in the Foothills, at 11274 S. Fortuna Road. It is owned by Christine Gapp and managed by Shana Dempsey.
Part of the reason for the restaurant's success, said Dempsey, is consistently good customer service: Da Boyz has friendly waitresses who make customers feel at home.
Another reason for the pizza's popularity is painstaking preparation of good-quality ingredients, she added.
A basic pepperoni pizza is one of Da Boyz's most popular offerings, but the restaurant has a wide variety of toppings to suit customers' particular tastes, Dempsey said.
While polls respondents picked Da Boyz for its pizza, the word "Pasta" is part of the restaurant's name and it also serves up lasagna, spaghetti, fettucini and ravioli.
Also on the menu are a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, wine and beer, said Dempsey.
The Foothills restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. It delivers to residences in the Foothills and east Yuma, and now that a second restaurant is opening, people elsewhere in Yuma can get home delivery as well.
At the time she spoke with the Yuma Sun, Dempsey was anticipating the second Da Boyz would be ready to open in the former Kress building, 284 S. Main St. in downtown Yuma, in late January.
Phone number for the Foothills Da Boyz is 317-1717. The phone for the Yuma restaurant is 783-8383.
