Medical supply office moving

Yuma Regional First Health Medical Supply is moving to a new location. As of Monday, it will be at 2451 S. Avenue A in Suite 101 of the Kachina Medical Plaza, conveniently located across the street from Yuma Regional Medical Center.

First Health has been providing medical equipment for the Yuma area since 1996, delivering personalized services by a team of professionals. The company offers the rental, sale and service of a wide range of home health care products, including oxygen equipment , BiPAP and CPAP machines, hospital beds, wheelchairs, canes, crutches and daily living aides. The company accepts more than 20 insurance plans, including Medicare.

It's open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with 24-hour emergency service available. The phone is 317-0040.

In case someone missed the mention about Chick-fil-A in last Sunday's business feature on city building activity ...

City building official Randy Crist reported that the architect for Chick-fil-A recently said the company is committed to opening a restaurant in Yuma sometime in 2012. Just when in 2012 wasn't specified.

The building plans have been approved for the restaurant, and land has been purchased for it next to Five Guys.

Good news for those who have been waiting for word on the proposed Taco Bell in the Foothills — the new restaurant is out for bid by subcontractors. The fast-food restaurant is to be built at the corner of Fortuna Road and North Frontage Road.

Yuma County Farm Bureau has broken ground on its new office building at 7175 E. 32nd Place in the Plaza Del Este Subdivision. The new 3,700-square-foot building will house the organization's headquarters and provide space for tenants such as Farm Bureau Insurance agents.

LPC Construction is the general contractor for the project that is expected to take approximately five months to complete. The local farming organization has been without a home for several years after the city of Yuma purchased Farm Bureau's previous building at 16th Street and 10th Avenue for roadway improvements.

In other city of Yuma building activity, permits have been issued for three new cellphone towers for Verizon Wireless, reported Alan Kircher, city deputy building official. They're to be located at 1394 W. 16th St., 1275 S. Pacific Ave. and 221 E. 26th Place.

Singer Sew & Vac, which had been located at Yuma Mesa Shopping Center for a number of years, has moved. It is now at 1185 S. 4th Ave., Suite K. The phone number remains 783-1914.

Hairstylist Amy Merchant Diaz, who previously was at Cost Cutters in the Foothills, is now working at Tangle Tamers, 2447 S. 4th Ave. For an appointment, call 210-1871.

Scrub ‘N Clean is observing its 16th anniversary. Owners Alfonso and Illiana Tellez started the residential and commercial cleaning service in 1996.

NU-2-U Thrift & Antique Store, which opened its doors last fall at 2186 E. 15th Place, will be closing at the end of February. The store is having an inventory closeout sale. Consignees are asked to contact Kevin Nakasawa at 580-9278 to arrange pickup of their items.

Sto-Rage Inc., owned by Nakasawa and Melissa Rosales, will continue with outside consignment sales and estate sales. They also plan to open a new thrift and antique shop in the near future.

Northern Seed, co-owned by Robby Barkley of Yuma, has expanded its operation with the purchase of the former Columbia Grain seed conditioning plant in Fort Benton, Mont.

Northern propagates advanced varieties from genetics sources such as WestBred, Montana State University, CDC Canada and ProGene, among others, and makes them available to local farmers. The company carries certified varieties of spring and winter wheat and other grain and grass crops, Clearfield wheat, malt, feed, and waxy food grade barleys, along with pulse crops and grasses.

This is Northern's fourth location in the Golden Triangle of Montana, with other locations in Conrad, Shelby and eastern Pondera County.

As construction progresses on the new home for the Humane Society of Yuma, various businesses have donated labor, equipment and materials for the project, said Troy Eckard, general contractor. To date, they include:

• Ram Pest, Ron Martin, donated pretreatment pest control services

• Naquin Precision Earth Moving, Cody Naquin, donated grading of the site

• Dahl Robins & Associates, Kevin Dahl, donated civil engineering and design

• GTS, Courtney Arviso, donated soils investigation and report

• All Waste Sanitation, donated job site toilets

• Rain For Rent, donated equipment

• Yuma Mesa Irrigation District, waived fees and donated material

• U.S. Bureau Reclamation, waived fees

• Jim Davey, donated engineering

• Glenn Curtis Company, donated the land and tree removal

• Perricone Family, donated land.

The new Humane Society complex at the southwest corner of 40th Street and Avenue 4-1/2E is scheduled for completion by mid-September, Eckard said.

Driving through Gila Bend? The new, paved segment of State Route 85 at the Business Route 8 (Butterfield Trail Road) intersection is now open to traffic, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Motorists had been traveling on a temporary detour road for the past few months while crews worked on the improved segment.

The $13.5 million ADOT project includes construction of a new, elevated intersection at SR 85 and B-8, a wider bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad and realigning both SR 85 and Maricopa Road.
