Meet and Greet for subcontractors
Harper Construction Company, which recently was awarded contracts to design and build three aircraft maintenance hangars at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, will hold a meet and greet from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel, 2044 S. Avenue 3E.
The contractor is seeking experienced and certified suppliers, subcontractors and service providers in all trades. The company's goal is to establish long-term relationships with small business firms, including women owned, disadvantaged owned, veteran owned, service disabled veteran, HUBZone and AbilityOne businesses.

Learn about composting
Master Gardener Ellen Gardener will present “The Joy of Composting” at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive. Learn about composting bins and how to get started. There is no charge to attend.
Upcoming topics in the Yuma Garden Series include “Proper Soil Amendments for a Thriving Garden” in December and “Nutrient Deficiency” in January. Meet fellow gardening enthusiasts and learn how to make things grow in Arizona.

Worker safety classes
Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health will present two worker safety training classes in Yuma on Nov. 28 at the Yuma Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive.
The morning class from 9 a.m. to noon will focus on compressed gases and welding safety. The afernoon class from 1 to 4 is about machine guarding safety awareness.

Kristin Shore, a Yuma-area Edward Jones financial advisor, will be hosting a Coffee Club at 8:30 a.m. every Wednesday at her office at 11274 S. Government procurement conference
The Diversity Business Development Center announces it will hold its third annual Government Procurement Outlook & Exhibition Conference at the Yuma Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4-5.
The center is a nonprofit organization that assists businesses to develop and advance their opportunities for contracts in such fields as aerospace and defense, biosciences, construction, communications, education, energy, health care, law enforcement, manufacturing and transportation.
The conference provides a forum for businesses to identify contract opportunities with federal, state and local governments and subcontract opportunities with prime government contractors. Speakers throughout the two-day conference from various fields, including Yuma Proving Ground and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, will present information regarding opportunities and how to access these contracts for their organizations.
