Yuma in need of soccer fields
As a current goalkeeper for Yuma Catholic High School and Yuma Legends, I am writing this letter to the newspaper for the City of Yuma to consider putting in new soccer fields. I understand I am young, but soccer is everything to me, and this is why I hope the citizens and our leaders of the city of Yuma see this article.
Soccer keeps kids out of trouble, it is entertaining and it can take the most talented individuals far. Unfortunately, it is very challenging because of Yuma's lack of soccer fields (not to mention the lack of field lights so that we can play at night).
We soccer players are not very picky with our fields, but I believe it is time for somebody to speak up. Football, baseball and so many other sports have luxurious fields compared to soccer fields. I also completely understand that football and baseball are some examples of America's favorite sports, but come on, you have to give us something.
A sports complex does cost a lot of money, I know. But after all, look at the profit you will make when there are soccer teams paying $500 per team to play for a weekend!
I hope that this letter explains why soccer players/teams and the city's economy (which could be better) could use a soccer complex. I would like to thank the editor, Yuma residents, soccer players/lovers, and the City of Yuma leaders for acknowledging my proposal in the newspaper.
