Decisions for pre-retirees

Those approaching retirement are invited to attend a presentation on decisions to make regarding their investments. Sponsored by Yuma Investment Group, the program will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Yuma Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive. Seating is limited and reservations are encouraged by calling 329-1700.

The presentation will cover the three primary distribution options available to retirees, the pros and cons of each, how these decisions might play out over the coming years and the mistakes to avoid.

Business women meet

The Yuma chapter of American Business Women's Association will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Radisson, 1501 S. Redondo Center Drive. The event includes dinner, networking and a program.

Reservations are requested by Jan. 21 by calling the hospitality chair, Brooke, at 246-3034 or by sending an email to abwareservations@gmail.com. The cost of $20 for members and guests will be collected at the door.

Guest speaker Davelyn Rogers, former Yuma Police Department officer, will deliver this month's program, “Safety First!” Learn how to increase your personal safety, better protect your property and improve the security of your customers.

Library services for job seekers

The Yuma County Library District's part-time instructors Selene Hinojosa and Jose Carrizales are available to assist job seekers at Yuma County libraries. Receive bilingual training and one-on-one assistance with resumes, job searches, employment applications, starting a business and continuing education opportunities.

A virtual workforce workstation is available at each library branch for job search and placement assistance, skill assessments, development of individual employment plans and career planning. The Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive, houses a Job Help Hub with multiple resources.

The AzJAC project was developed by the Arizona State Library to create public locations throughout the state to assist those seeking employment by furthering education and career training.

Chamber mixer

The monthly Yuma County Chamber of Commerce mixer will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at Yuma Crossing Quartermaster Depot, 201 N. 4th Ave. The event is sponsored by the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area and will include a tour of the traveling Alcatraz exhibit.
