The Yuma Sun has been chosen as No. 1 in three categories of Yuma's Best for 2012: Best Advertising/PR Firm, Best Marketing and Design Service, and Best Website.
“We are very excited,” said Lisa Reilly, Yuma Sun advertising director.
“We won best newspaper of the year, our advertising department won first place for general excellence, the editorial won huge awards, and the designers have won tons of awards. So this is just really one more piece that tells the whole business community that we are doing a great job, and we really care.”
Good advertising comes through good relations and communications with customers, said John Courtis, Yuma Sun retail sales manager.
“We ask lots of questions. We solve multiple problems for multiple customers with multiple products going to multiple audiences, and that I think is the key.”
Once a customer decides to advertise with the Yuma Sun, it is up to the creative services department to design a good looking advertisement that will catch the attention of consumers.
“We make it pretty,” said Sue Cannon, creative services manager. “Everyone works really hard. It is a good team. They take a lot of pride in their work and have a good time.”
And the team really “appreciates” being voted No. 1 in the Best Marketing and Design Service category, Cannon added.
Roxanne Molenar, Yuma Sun editor, said she is very pleased YumaSun.com has once again been chosen as Yuma's Best.
“It's a terrific honor for YumaSun.com to win best website again,” she said. “Our philosophy is, we provide news to the reader, however they choose to read it — be it in print, Facebook, Twitter, our e-newsletters or on YumaSun.com.”
The Yuma Sun staff is “delighted to serve our readers, and happy that they find our site worthy of the award,” Molenar added, noting the Yuma Sun reporting team emphasizes multimedia content — be it an article, photo or video — and that YumaSun.com is a terrific vehicle to get that content to the readers.
