Fault lies with voters for electing officials

Here we are in the middle of the fifth year of a continuing resolution funding the federal government. The one and only budget proposal was submitted by President Obama and soundly rejected by Congress. This continuing resolution includes $1.5 trillion each year of deficit spending and is the basic reason why our national debt has increased $6 trillion so far under President Obama. Now Congress and the president are screaming we must raise taxes to resolve $85 billion in spending cuts.

At times like this, I honestly believe we are living in a fairyland economy rather than in a real economy. This $85 billion cut equates to a little over 5 percent of the annual budget deficit which everyone claims we need to cut. This cut is just under 2 percent of the annual authorized resolution spending of $5.5 trillion.

We are told that we need to spend billions of borrowed money to help other countries balance their budget as foreign aid. We provide 25 percent of the United Nations operating budget where the majority of nations are not our friends or support us on international issues. We poured down the toilet billions of borrowed money for green energy projects who file for bankruptcy shortly after receiving our contributions. We are implementing ObamaCare, which members of Congress never read before voting in favor of. As more of the finite details become public, those who favored this law are now trying to make changes to its content.

Instead of the administration and Democrats focusing on our fiscal mess, they are screaming a dire need to pass more gun control laws designed to further increase the lack of safety for our citizenry. Democrats have repeatedly stated that we don't have a spending problem, instead it's a revenue problem. So as the ship of state slowly sinks, our politicians accuse each other for being responsible for this mess when it really is the voters' fault. They were stupid enough to believe what these used car salesmen promised us on the campaign trail.
