The Kofa High School Royal Dancers will be performing their winter showcase Thursday and Friday, with proceeds being donated to charity.
Royal Dancers booster club president Melanie Bennett said the group will be donating 50 percent of their proceeds from “The Gift of Giving” performances to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program in Yuma County. The dancers are asking that those attending also bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots.
The funds and toys will be given to Marines during the Friday night intermission.
Bennett noted that this is the first year the students decided to give a portion of the proceeds back to the community. “All of them are aware of the importance of community service.”
The performances will feature 30 dances by male and female students from freshmen to seniors. Bennett said the performances are all student-led, with the students coming up with all of their own choreography.
“The dances range from a lyrical contemporary style through hip-hop,” she said.
The shows will be performed at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Kofa High School Auditorium, 3100 S. Avenue A.
Pre-sale tickets are $5, and tickets will also be available for $7 at the door. Pre-sale tickets can be reserved through Wednesday by emailing email@example.com and picked up at the auditorium the evening of the show.
