You don't have to panic yet; Valentine's Day is still two days away.
This year, the average shopper will spend about $130 on their special someone, according to projections by the National Retail Federation. More than half will buy candy and/or cards. More than a third will purchase flowers. Jewelry is another popular gift choice, and 6 million Americans are planning to pop or answer a marriage proposal on Valentine's Day.
Gifts, going out to dinner and going to the movies are what most people say they will do as a couple to celebrate. Since Thursday is the holiday, many will also take a weekend getaway for their celebration. As for greetings, text, Facebook, email, e-card and even Twitter Valentines will be sent by 56 percent of Americans.
I'm all for it; love should be celebrated every day. One designated 24-hour event to show your significant other how much you care is worth whatever you can afford. Celebrate your love!
