At a Crane school board meeting Tuesday, a sixth-grader will be recognized for placing at various state science fairs.
Syara Flores, a Gowan Achievement Program student at Rancho Viejo Elementary School, recently received second place in the astronomy and physical science category at the Southern Arizona Science and Engineering Fair in Tucson as well as third place in elementary physical science at the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix.
In other meeting news, the board will consider adopting an agreement with The New Teacher Project, Inc., to allow the district to receive services for recruitment, selection, training and certification of two new teachers to teach math at Crane middle schools.
Lastly, the board will hold first readings on revised policies, including one that provides added focus to an important aspect of student safety during school sports.
“District practices pertaining to student health and safety management plans are improved by periodic review, updating, and ongoing training,” stated the agenda item background information.
The policies will be taken under consideration and a second reading and adoption will be scheduled for the regular governing board meeting in May.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Crane Education Center, 4250 W. 16th St. Visit www.craneschools.org/agendas to view the meeting agenda.
