During the Korean War, the United States lost 54,280 soldiers, sailors and airmen. The Korean War ended in a draw. It finished right where it had started at the 38th parallel in Korea. If we had fought that war and defeated the North Koreans there would’ve never been a Vietnam War. If the North Koreans come across the 38th parallel again to take control of the South we must fight shoulder to shoulder with South Koreans until there is no North Korea. The ghosts of that 54,280 will be on our backs from its start to its finish.
Let us not forget the last time the U.S. fought in Korea. Chinese fighter planes supplied by the Russians, and many times flown by Russians, came across the border between China and North Korea to kill Americans and then fled back into China. When our fighter planes followed the Chinese planes back into China, it gave the Chinese the excuse to send over 1 million Chinese soldiers into Korea. While North Korea still lives under the dogma of Lenin and Stalin, the rest of the world has moved on. China and the Russians no longer look through the rose-colored glasses of communist superiority.
From 1953 until today, North Korea has starved its people to maintain the façade of a communist state. North Korea is a dictatorship, plain and simple, and has been using this bluster and bullying to acquire enough food stuffs and money to keep this dictatorship stable. Over the years the United States and South Korea have paid for peace with lives and appeasement. Let us not forget about the Pueblo that was captured by North Korea, one American sailor was killed and the rest of the crew held captive and tortured for over a year. Today the Pueblo is used as a propaganda prop for the North Koreans. Without a doubt if this Cold War turns hot in North Korea, by all means we should have that ship returned.
If war does break out in Korea, make no mistake, the Chinese will want no part of it. The Chinese live better today than they have in their history and they’re not going to go back to the rice paddies. North Korea has been selling and shipping nuclear technology to countries like Syria and Iran. Make no mistake, if war broke out on the Korean Peninsula, the United States would use nuclear weapons to take out North Korean nuclear facilities, which could, in the end, save millions of lives.
