Husband and wife team Dr. Nader Haddad and Dr. Dania Sweidan operate Yuma Women Clinic, which focuses on obstetrics and gynecology services. Their goal is to provide good communication and personalized care with their patients. In fact, their web site notes, “You are not ‘that patient who is having a hysterectomy or the patient who is pregnant with twins,' you are Maria or Elizabeth, we will know you by name, we will listen to you, you will never feel rushed and most importantly we will strive to serve you like you're family.”
For more information about their practice, which is located at 1025 W. 24th St., Suite 22, call 248-4630, or visit www.yumawomenclinic.com.
They recently took a few moments to answer Five Questions with the Raising Yuma team.
1. What was the best lesson or advice you received from your parents?
Our parents have taught us that it is only with hard work and sacrifice you will get what you want, and they were a true example of endless love and sacrifice for the sake of getting us the best education. They taught us that the road of success starts with perseverance, strong will and a big dream.
2. What brought you to Yuma, and what do you love most about the area?
We did our training at the University of Toledo in Ohio, where it can get really cold. We felt the need to get to a similar climate to our home country and we had family in San Diego, so we started looking around there. We found Yuma, came for an interview in April, liked the place and the weather, especially since it was snowing in Ohio and we were enjoying our time in the pool. We felt that we can easily fit in the community and have a home for us in Yuma
3. What makes your business unique, and how do you serve families?
We are a family and our main aim in the office is to have our patients feel they are part of the family. We spend as much time as they need, we hear every complaint, we address every issue, we answer all questions, we learn everything that needs to be known. We call patients personally, we see them without appointments and we are there for their most precious moments. They trust us with their lives and we feel honored and responsible to deliver the best of care.
4. What would surprise people most about you?
We have been married for nine years. We have a daughter who is 6 and a son who is 2. We did not meet in medical school. People are always surprised to see that we have two different personalities yet we are able to work together in one of the most demanding specialties and that is because we compliment each other. Bottom line: we make a good team in and outside the home.
5. What makes Yuma a great place to raise a family?
The fact that you are 15 minutes or less from anywhere in Yuma cuts down on the commute, which gives you more freedom through your day. There are a lot of outdoor activities that you get to enjoy with your kids.
