In case it isn’t yet abundantly clear, let me state the obvious. The trial of George Zimmerman was never about the unintentional and tragic death of Trayvon Martin. It was and is about the state of Florida’s “Stand your Ground” law. This case is still being politicized by every branch of our legal system, including the president himself. Zimmerman was found innocent of second-degree murder by a jury of his peers. That is the law of our land. You don’t have to like it; it is what it is. And yet we still have the president making political statements and advancing racial divisions, regardless of the rule of law.
There are people in this country who profess they want justice, but on their terms. There are people who want justice based on truth; people who don’t want the truth or justice, and those simply don’t care but will advance their agenda(s) no matter what the evidence says.
There is another group or type of people in this country. Those are the group Joseph Stalin called “useful idiots.” These “Stalinites” will believe anything that will soothe their conscience, while having no foundation in the truth or the concept of justice. They become the bait of politicians and rally together in groupthink. We live in a time of Stalinites, when the political agendas mean more than truth or justice.
The president has injected himself into many of these conflicts with the same agenda, and rather than unite this country, he has chosen to further divide it. He has chosen to racially divide us rather than unite us under the banner of law. He has chosen the agenda over truth and called upon his useful idiots. But I can’t really criticize him for this. He told us the “war on guns” was only beginning. This administration will never let an opportunity to change the law go past him. He also told us he would have the most transparent presidency in history. We just didn’t know it was going to be the “Chicago way.”
