The Yuma Police Department is investigating an alleged threat reportedly made by a student at Gila Ridge High School on Wednesday. Police have not released the student's name.
According to YPD, a 17-year-old boy made some concerning statements that were threatening in nature. Details of the statements, which were investigated by the YPD school resource officer, have not been released to the public.
YPD has contacted both the student and his parents. At this point in the investigation, YPD has not substantiated any credible threats, stating the student did not pose an immediate threat to other students or faculty.
The student was picked up by his parents and will not be permitted to return to campus until the investigation is complete. The school administration is aware of the allegation and is assisting YPD with the investigation.
