Gila Ridge upsets Lake Havasu
Nadine Gil hit a 3-point shot at the end of the third quarter as the Gila Ridge girls basketball team topped Lake Havasu 37-36 on Friday.
The teams played a one-point game in Yuma earlier this year, won by the Knights. Havasu entered the game ninth in Division I Section I power points, just behind Kofa. The top eight teams in the section advance to the section tournament. Brackets will be announced Sunday.
Allison Weller had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Teigan Struck had eight.
The Hawks were up six at half but were trailing in the third until Gil hit her 3-pointer. Late in the game, the Hawks tried to inbound the ball and throw it the length of the court. It was swatted down, and the Knights chased it down but missed their shot at the buzzer.
