YTC holding a meeting

During the annual membership meeting of the Yuma Community Theater scheduled for June 10, review of the past year's activities and discussion of future events will be made.

Frederic B. Brown, YCT board president, said, "Individuals interested in theater, whether acting or backstage, are welcome to attend to learn about local, live Broadway theater in Yuma."

The meeting, open to the public, will follow a lunch at 1 p.m. at the Yuma Community Food Bank, 2325 S. Engler Ave.

"Our production of Sound of Music' this past season was viewed by 3,500 for the nine performances," Brown said.

"Upcoming productions will be 'Nunsense,' in January; 'Oklahoma' in March and 'Let's Murder Marsha' in April. Each of these productions will be presented for three weekends, Friday and Saturday evenings and a matinee on Sundays. Production planning usually begins six months prior to a performance. Auditions for the first play will be in late August, and for the cast of five women, ages 20 to 50. Details will be announced at a later date for auditions of the future productions," he added.

Brown said that when anyone actually starts working on productions, he or she will be expected to pay a $10 annual membership fee.

"YCT needs individuals to help build and paint sets, create costumes, find stage props, work with design and lighting, be backstage, take tickets or usher. Choreographers for dance routines and performing musicians are needed," he said.

"Because we are meeting at the food bank, it would be appreciated if those attending could bring an item of nonperishable food. Food is definitely needed," Brown said.
