Country star Trace Adkins performs in Yuma tonight
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It will be a special Mother's Day for many area residents when one of the biggest names in country music performs in Yuma tonight.
Multiplatinum recording artist Trace Adkins will be performing live at Paradise Casinos, 450 Quechan Drive, with gates opening at 6 p.m.
Currently on tour with his 2008 Trace Adkins American Man Tour, he has remained a chart-buster for more than 11 years. He has since sold millions of records and won dozens of industry awards.
He was most recently the runner-up on the NBC reality series "The Celebrity Apprentice" and made his film-acting debut in "Trailer Park of Terror," which premiered at the recent Slamdance Film Festival.
"We are just thrilled to have him here at Paradise Casinos," said Barrett DeFay, marketing director for the casinos. "We've had our eyes on him for quite some time and were fortunate enough to book him before his popularity exploded with 'Celebrity Apprentice.'
"He is really blossoming into becoming the next country superstar. This is a great way to spend Mother's Day, start with brunch and finish here with dessert," DeFay said.
Adkins remains a master of light-hearted realism when it comes to relationships between the sexes, and his smash hit "Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk" is a hip-hop-influenced song that threw the Louisiana-born singer to new levels of popularity.
He is known to sing songs of praise for attractive women and even has a song "Hot Mama" that is an ode to the wife who doesn't know her own sexiness.
But it isn't women who inspired him to sing. Adkins said in a press release, "Granddaddy was a great bass singer. I used to love to stand beside him in church and listen to him sing."
Adkins performs an average 150-200 concerts a year and developed a huge fan base. He was unavailable for comment about his Yuma visit, due to his busy touring schedule.
Tickets for the concert, a 21-and-older event, are $27.50 for general admission. For ticket information, go to www.paradise-casinos.com or call 1-888-777-4946.
