Devil's Highway is focus of slide show

El Camino del Diablo, the Devil's Highway, is the topic of a slide show at 4 p.m. Sunday presented by the Arizona Historical Society.

Early Spanish explorers used the route through the desert area in 1540, starting in Caborca, Sonora. The ancient route was a link between Mexico and Yuma.

It has been traveled by adventurers with four-wheel vehicles and antique cars and it has been the subject of books written by individuals who have hiked what remains of the desert route.

Space is limited so reservations should be made. For location and reservations, call 782-1841. Admission is $3 per person for the public, and free to members and volunteers of the historical society.
