'Run for Your Wife' opens tonight in Yuma

John Smith is a London taxi driver who has a secret: He has two wives, Barbara and Mary.

His double life begins to unravel when his taxi is involved in an automobile accident, and he must keep his two wives from meeting.

That's the plot of the Yuma Community Theater's comedy play "Run for Your Wife," which opens tonight (Friday) at the Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 S. Main St., at 7 p.m.

"I really enjoy doing this," said John Herrera, director of the YCT production. "It's a smaller kind of a show, (but) the bottom line for us is that it entertains."

The cast includes Larry Stone as John Smith, Shara Johnston as Mary and Jozlyn Davis as Barbara. Producer is Ingrid Burtom.

The play, based on the script by English playwright and actor Ray Cooney, is the third and last show of YCT's 2007-2008 season.

Herrera said that he hopes "Run for Your Wife" generates as much audience laughter as the past productions this season. "Judging from the turnouts that we get, I think we are doing a pretty good job."

"Run for Your Wife" will continue Saturday at 7 p.m and Sunday at 2 p.m. It also runs March 28 and 29 at 7 p.m., on March 30 at 2 p.m., and again on April 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. and April 6 at 2 p.m.
