Travel Series: See Alaska from the famous highway
Comments 0 | Recommend 0 Having ridden the Alaska Highway by motorcycle to cruising along dirt roads in an RV is the basis for the film shown Tuesday night by John Holod and Jodie Ginter.
The show will be at 7 p.m. at the Yuma Civic Center.
Holod was the bike rider more than 25 years ago and has filmed the "Alaska: RV Adventure of a Lifetime!" sharing some of the favorite places where he has stopped and the routes traveled.
Ginter is co-producer with Holod. A native of Hilton, N.Y., she worked in Christian education and youth ministry before joining Holod.
Among the sights along the highway are Liard Hot Springs, Watson Lake, the Sign Post Forest and Whitehorse museum.
More are Diamond Tooth Gerties in Dawson Creek, colorfully named places such as "Chicken beautiful" downtown, the Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival and Ninilchik clam digging.
The history of the largest state is seen along the highway from a riverboat tour, gold mines and national parks.
Admission to the Travel and Adventure Film Series is $8 per adult, $3 for students 18 and younger.
The next in the travel series will be on "America's Parklands" on Jan. 27.
