Robbery attempt at Mohave State Bank
A suspected bank robber fled the scene before getting any money in a botched robbery attempt at the Mohave State Bank Tuesday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Leanne Worthen of the Yuma Police Department, officers responded to the bank at 1800 S. 4th Ave. at 1:24 p.m. in reference to a report of an attempted robbery.
Worthen said the suspect entered the bank and presented the teller with a note demanding money. He also verbally requested money. While Worthen did not say what caused the robber to leave, she said he left the bank without getting any money.
There were customers inside the bank at the time but no one was injured. Worthen said the robber did not display a weapon during the botched robbery attempt. The bank was closed for several hours while investigators worked on the scene.
The suspect is described as a male in his 30s, with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing sunglasses, a blue ball cap, a gray long-sleeved shirt and jeans. He fled the area in dark gray or blue vehicle.
