16th Street work delayed
A scheduling conflict prevented completion of a waterline installation on 16th Street Tuesday night, Yuma city officials said, and the project has been rescheduled for next week.
Work on the line near the Interstate 8 bridge is now scheduled to take place beginning at 8 p.m. next Tuesday, city officials said, and traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction. The work will resume through the night, but all lanes will reopen the next morning.
Work on the line will continue after that date, but impacts on traffic will be minimal, city official said.
The project was scheduled to be done this Tuesday, but officials said scheduling conflicts prevented the contractor from doing the work.
The water line is being relocated to make room for the eventual widening of 16th Street from Arizona Avenue to Yuma Palms Parkway, city officials said. The city wants to widen 16th from five to seven lanes to handle congestion.
