Yuma Leadership still accepting applications
Comments 0 | Recommend 0 Yuma-area residents have until May 31 to apply to be part of the 2008-09 class of Yuma Leadership.
Begun in 1980, Yuma Leadership gives local business and civic-minded people an in-depth look at the inner workings of the area economy, local government, area resources, infrastructure, business and agriculture, educational institutions, law enforcement, media, and medical and social services.
Each month the participants will spend one full day touring and meeting with community leaders instrumental in making Yuma what it is.
Besides calling or e-mailing for an application, interested candidates must go through a brief interview of why they are interested in the program, be able to pay the required $400 by July 31, commit to a two-day retreat at the start of the program and be able to attend the full-day sessions once a month.
Participants are then asked to commit the following year as a Yuma Leadership volunteer to maintain the program.
Yuma Leadership is a registered nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to "encourage citizens to accept leadership responsibilities in community activities and empower these citizens to invest time to work through community groups to increase the quality of life in the Yuma area."
For more information about applying for Yuma Leadership, contact Tracey A. Rice, 217-1137, or trice@thefoothillsbank.com.
