A man was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center Saturday afternoon for treatment of injuries he sustained in a vehicular accident after fleeing the scene of an earlier accident, according to police reports.

The series of accidents occurred around 1 p.m. Saturday, said a spokeswoman for the Yuma Police Department. The first accident happened somewhere along 26th Place when a white Dodge pickup driven by Stephen Michael Jaramillo hit a car and left the scene.

The victim pursued Jaramillo, who tried to ram her car at 24th Street and Arizona Avenue, police reported. Jaramillo again fled the scene, pursued by the victim.

Jaramillo was injured when his vehicle struck a brick wall in front of a residence in the 2300 block of Walnut Avenue.

Several charges are pending against Jaramillo, police reported.

In another incident Saturday, a bicyclist was transported to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle around 10:30 a.m. at Gila Street and Giss Parkway, police said. That accident is under investigation.

No further details about either accident were available as of Saturday afternoon.
