Victim of fatal accident identified
Comments 0 | Recommend 0 A motorist killed in an accident Thursday afternoon on East 24th Street has been identified as David Andaverde Jr., 19, of Yuma.
Speed and failure to wear a seatbelt are believed to be contributing factors in Andaverde's death in the accident in the 2700 block of East 24th Street, Yuma police said.
Andaverde was driving a black 1997 Honda east on 24th at 3:41 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, police said in a news release
The car struck a curb then collided with a 2007 GMC pickup being driven east on 24th by James Roman, 46, of Yuma, police said. The Honda then rolled, ejecting Andaverde, who later died of his injuries at Yuma Regional Medical Center.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police accident investigator John Allen, 373-4700, or 78-CRIME.
