Bobby's Territorial Harley-Davidson at 2550 E. Gila Ridge Road is hosting a welcome party today for hundreds of Harley riders coming from San Diego. Senior executives of the motorcycle company are on a celebration ride and will be at Bobby's from 6 to 8 p.m. It is a fundraiser for muscular dystrophy, but will be a special fundraiser for Special Operations Warrior Foundation for scholarships to children of servicemen and women killed in action.
-First Passport to Safety
From 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, the first of what is to be the "Annual Passport to Safety" program will be at 965 Park Ave. in San Luis, Ariz. Program is for ages kindergarten through eighth grade, presented by the San Luis parks, police and fire departments, and other agencies. Open to the public, it will include educational safety programs, hot dogs, sodas and other foods. For details, call 341-8535 or 341-2420.
-Yuma Star, Group 2
Second elimination contest for Yuma Star will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 S. Main St., featuring 18 different singers. Tickets are $4 each, available at The Sun offices, 2055 S. Arizona Ave. Finals will be Sept. 3. Finals tickets will be $6.
-Jesus Jam
At 7 p.m. Friday, the Jesus Jam 2008 will be at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 Desert Hills Drive, featuring Christian rock music. Advance tickets are $10, admission at the door is $14. For information, call 341-9730.
-Barnyard Night
Scorpions will have a double-header with Long Beach Saturday at 6 p.m. at Desert Sun Stadium. Tickets are $6, available from Saddles of Joy and Yuma Valley Achievers 4-H members. For the Barnyard Night, Saddles of Joy will have a petting zoo adjacent to the stadium main gate with minimum charge.
-Humane Society Fur Ball
Second annual Fur Ball, a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Yuma's building fund, will be begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Sonoran Pueblo Banquet Hall at the Marine Corps Air Station. There will be a dinner, music, cocktails, silent and live auctions. Tickets are $150 each. For availability, call 782-1621, Ext. 104.
