Permit application site changes
Yuma-area resident who plan to visit the public areas of the Barry M. Goldwater Range and other protected areas will have to apply for their visitor permits at a different location on base than they did last year.
According to Gunnery Sgt. Bill Lisbon, public affairs chief at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, those who want to apply for a permit will need to go to the range permit office, which is now located in Building 952 next to the air station's main gate on Avenue 3E.
"It is more of a convenient location," Lisbon said.
Lisbon said visitors do not need to have base access to visit this office. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Previously, permits were available at the human resources offices south of the main gate.
Once applications are approved, two permit cards are issued: one to be kept on the person and one to be placed in a visible location in their vehicle while on the range, as well as a map of the range and additional information.
Permits are free and valid until June 30.
Permits are required for anyone over the age of 18 who wants to visit Barry M. Goldwater Range-West, the Cabeza Prieta Refuge or Area B near Gila Bend. Minors must be escorted by adults at all times.
