Yuma woman injured in I-8 rollover accident
Two motorists from Yuma County were involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident Saturday along the interstate in California.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at about noon, Claudia Arvizu, 38, of Yuma, was driving her Mercury westbound on Interstate 8 near Seminole Road.
At the same time Joe Robinson, 55, of Somerton, was in the process of passing Arvizu.
As Robinson was passing, Arvizu became distracted and allowed her vehicle to drift into across the lane and collide with the right rear side of Robinson's vehicle.
Arvizu lost control of her vehicle, causing it to completely roll over at least once before coming to rest on its tires.
Robinson stopped his vehicle on the shoulder of the road following the accident.
The news release states that Arvizu was injured in the accident but did not indicate the severity of her injuries. Both Arvizu and Robinson were wearing their seat belts at the time.
