AWC Glance: Black history symposium; $35 massages
Black History Month Symposium to be Thursday
The 2nd Annual Black History Month Symposium will be held at Arizona Western College on Thursday.
This year's event is themed “Learn, Remember, Serve” and will feature faculty presentations in addition to student readings and performances.
“This will be an informative and moving event that will present key topics and issues that have paved the way for today's society which will encourage attendees to remember the legacies that iconic men and women have left behind to inspire them to make a difference in their own community by serving their brothers and sisters,” stated AWC.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the AC Building, Room 282 on AWC's main campus, 2020 S. Avenue 8E in Yuma. For more information , contact AWC educational events specialist Hayley Bradford at email@example.com or 317-7670.
Massage therapy program offers $35 massages
Arizona Western College's Licensed Massage Therapy Program is offering affordable massages to the public.
The AWC Massage Therapy Clinic is scheduling appointments for full-body massages for $35 through May. “That offer not only gives a person the opportunity to receive a very affordable massage, but also provides opportunities for students to improve their skills in massage treatment and management while in a professional setting under the guidance of a licensed massage therapist,” stated AWC.
Yuma Regional Medical Center employees who bring their employee identification can get massages for $25 as YRMC provides the clinic space.
Appointments are available through May 10 on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The clinic is located behind Kachina Medical Plaza at 2451 S. Avenue A, Suite 101. Call 317-7529 for appointments.
