Cut-a-thon raises money for Yuma baby
Comments 0 | Recommend 0At least 101 individuals had haircuts Sunday at M'Lady and M'Lord Salon as a fundraiser to help defray medical costs for Addison Tams. Nearly 6 months old, the baby has congenital heart disease. In addition, 23 people had massages.
Kathie Morgan, owner of the salon said, "We had great turnout, ending with $2,400 to help the Tams family with medical costs. Our eight stylists volunteered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"There was a big mixture of men, women and children. Families had haircuts, groups of friends sat in the chairs for the cuts, and we had a couple come in after riding their motorcycles," Morgan said.
"Everyone seemed to enjoy the $15 haircuts, and many left tips to go into the fund. We just want to help the family, and for Addison to come home to Yuma."
Addison was born in Yuma March 29 this year and has been under care, through surgeries and treatment at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix ever since.
Her parents are Stacey and Matt Tams, and she has a brother, Drew, not quite 2.
In an earlier telephone interview from Phoenix, the Tams had said they know more procedures will be in the future for Addison, and hope they will be less frequent than the recent monthly surgeries.
