Ballet Yuma will perform in Phoenix series
Dancers and apprentices from Ballet Yuma Senior Company will be performing in Phoenix at the Arts Council of the North Valley's performing arts series Saturday.
The "Divas and Dancers" event will be held at the Goelet A.C. Beuf Community Center, 3435 W. Pinnacle Peak, at 2 p.m.
The dancers will perform three pieces, including "Pas de Quatre," which is considered a historic event from 1845. That performance brought together four of the most accomplished ballerinas of the time, said Ballet Yuma business manager Steven Henning. Saturday's performance will be choreographed by Ballet Yuma artistic director Kathleen Sinclair.
The second performance, "Pour Laisser," also a classical piece, will be choreographed by Sinclair and performed by Ballet Yuma apprentices.
The only modern piece, "An Uncertain Awakening," will be choreographed by Ballet Yuma artistic assistant Emma Cong.
The dancers also will attend a class with Ballet Arizona and are invited to see one of its performances.
"The Arts Council of the North Valley tries to represent the very best quality, and it is an honor to be invited to perform in this setting," said Henning.
