Food bank donations can have triple impact
Bank offering to supplement gifts
Residents who donate funding to the Yuma Community Food Bank (YCFB) this holiday season through Feeding America will be able to triple the impact of their donations.
For every $1 donated to Feeding America's Give a Meal campaign via feedingamerica.org/BankofAmerica, Bank of America will donate $2. The bank will match individual donations up to $10,000, with a cap of $1.5 million for YCFB.
“The Yuma Community Food Bank is extremely thankful for all of Bank of America's Support through the Give a Meal campaign, which will help feed the 42.9 percent of Food Insecure Children in our service area,” said Mike Ivers, President and CEO of YCFB.
Donations to YCFB are crucial during the holiday season, Ivers continued.
“The other day after a presentation at a local elementary school, a young girl walked up to me and said, ‘Mister, I think you might be seeing me at the Food Bank, because my family is going broke.' It's comments like these that make Bank of America support so important.”
Feeding America is “grateful for the support of Bank of America and their generous offer to provide a two for one match,” said Matt Knott, interim president and CEO of Feeding America.
“With one in five families in our country in danger of not knowing where their next meal is coming from, the epidemic of hunger is something that we can't solve alone. Together with Bank of America and its customers, we can bring hope to people this holiday season.”
To ensure YCFB receives a donation made online, the donor must designate “Your Local Food Bank” and enter a postal zip code in the Yuma area.
