New AWC board member sworn in
Anna Camacho was sworn in as the newest member of the Arizona Western College District governing board on Wednesday, filling the recently vacated seat of longtime board member Pam Stroud, who recently resigned.
Camacho was sworn in by La Paz County Superintendent Janice Shelton. Stroud, who announced her resignation in December, had been serving on the board since Aug. 1, 2011.
“Camacho will serve the remainder of Stroud's term which ends Dec. 31, 2012,” stated AWC. “The appointment becomes effective Monday, Feb. 6, 2012. The position will appear on the General Election Ballot in November 2012 as a regular six-year term.”
Shelton noted that according to the most recent redistricting, Camacho will now be representing District 2, which includes precincts 54 (upriver), 56 (Wenden), 57 (Salome), 58 (Quartzsite), 62 (Vicksburg), and 63 (Alamo).
She added that she is confident that Camacho will make a good representative of District 2 on the AWC District board.
AWC President Dr. Glenn E. Mayle said, “I appreciate the past service and contributions of Pam Stroud and look forward to welcoming Anna Camacho to our board.”
