Library board seeks members, donors
The Yuma Library Foundation is seeking new board members.
The YLF board is a nonprofit community group that raises and manages private endowment funding for Yuma County's libraries to expand services and purchase books.
For every $500 contribution to the endowment, the library district acquires one book every year in that person's name, in perpetuity. The books contain a gift plate listing the donor's name.
Books are purchased in subject areas chosen by the donor. However, if the donor does not designate a field, the district's collection development librarian uses the money to build up the district's Arizona collection, which consists of history, travel and other books with Arizona themes.
The books are distributed to the district branches in Yuma, Somerton, San Luis, the Foothills, Wellton and elsewhere in the east county.
For more information about the endowment fund or to apply for the board, call Gerry Giss, YLF chairman, at 783-3185.
