Military training may cause booms
Military training Thursday at Yuma Proving Ground will make use of high explosives that may be heard nearby.
The training by the Special Operations Terminal Attack Controller Course is set for 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m.
The training, which involves dropping bombs from aircraft, could send sound effects into the Yuma area, although YPG officials say this is not anticipated.
The purpose of this specialized course is to teach Special Forces troops from the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps how to conduct close air support missions, and to certify them as qualified ground controllers.
