Man still sought in kidnap attempt

The Yuma Police Department is still searching for the man who tried to abduct a 12-year-old boy who was walking to school the morning of Nov. 8.

The man, described as a teenager or young adult, is about 6 feet 1 inch tall, 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He also has a five-pointed star tattoo on his right jaw line and a scar by his left cheek and at the time was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, black shorts, and red and white shoes.

YPD urges the public to be vigilant and report suspicious individuals matching the man's description.

The attempted abduction happened just before 7:45 a.m. when a man came up behind the boy and called out to him before grabbing him. The boy struggled and was able to break free.

The boy, injured during the scuffle, ran to a nearby Circle K at 2089 S. Avenue A. The man was seen leaving the area.
