YCSO searching for suspected molester
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a suspect wanted for allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.
According to YCSO spokesman Capt. Eben Bratcher, in mid-August, the Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible child molestation. He said a 13-year-old girl had reported to a relative that she had been repeatedly sexually abused over a two-week period during the beginning of May, 2012.
Bratcher said the woman, after being told about what had happened, confronted the suspect, who then fled the residence. He has not been seen since.
“(The suspect) had threatened her life if she ever reported it,” Bratcher said. “Now we just need to find him.”
The suspect has been identified as Rosario Miguel Garcia, 56, of Yuma. Bratcher said Garcia may have fled to Mexico, but family members suspect he may still be living in the country under an assumed name.
“(The family) alluded to him possibly still being in the area,” Bratcher said of Garcia. “They also said they believe he is out trying to buy fake identification.”
Garcia is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is wanted for multiple counts of child molestation.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Garcia is asked to contact Detective Guerra of the Yuma County Sheriff's Office at 210-3843 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
