Break dancing event Saturday night

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Yo, listen up, the break-dancing crews Rock So Fresh and Furious Styles will "cypher" in Yuma Saturday night, so you better check it. One of the B-Boy Jam's organizers, Mauricio Pena, said in the break-dancing world "it is like the Olympics being held here."

"It's like history in the making," he said. "It's like Michael Jordan going up against Magic Johnson."

Pena said he expects between 30 to 40 break dancers to showcase their talent or, in other words - "jump in the cypher."

"It's just people getting together and dancing. There will be a main event. It's like a boxing fight. You got the little fights before the main event. Same setup."

Pena said the last time break dancers got together in Yuma was October.

B-Boy Jam begins is from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Ramada 13 at Sanguinetti Park, 8th Avenue and 22nd Street. All ages are invited, and it's free.

For anyone who likes to watch break dancing and wants to see some popular talents, Pena asks, "Why would you miss it?"

Word.
