Comments 0 | Recommend 0Beginning Monday, 12th Street will be closed at various times between 1st and Arizona avenues as part of the restoration of the Yuma City Cemetery.
In the restoration project, the cemetery chain-link fence that runs the length of 12th will be replaced by a new block wall that will match the one along the cemetery's Arizona Avenue perimeter, city officials said in a news release.
Also, the cemetery will receive new post and cable fencing that will run along the roads inside the cemetery. The post and cable fence is intended to keep vehicular traffic away from the gravesites.
Through the end of the year, motorists should be prepared for complete closures of 12th Street between 1st and Arizona from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 6 to 9 a.m. on Fridays, city officials said
Traffic will be open on 12th Street in the late afternoons and on weekends, officials said.
The main cemetery entrance, which is on 1st Avenue, will not be directly affected by the project and will remain open as usual, officials said.
