Enjoy swap meet in air-conditioned civic center

Swap meet fans can spend a hot August day doing what they like to do best, and the best part is that they can do it in air-conditioned comfort.

The occasion is a big indoor swap meet Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive. Admission is $1 at the door.

Both shoppers and browsers are welcome.

The event will offer bargains, food and a good time, promised Stephanie McMillin, box office and events specialist for the Yuma Civic Center.

Vendors at a total of 111 spaces throughout most of the civic center will be offering a variety of wares — both new and gently used — such as clothing, toys, jewelry, furniture, housewares and fundraisers, McMillin said.

“It's a pleasant, cool way to spend a summer day,” McMillin said.

She noted that 1,000 people attended a similar event in June.

And while the wives shop, their husbands can relax in the lobby where tables and chairs will be set up for them.

The concession stand will be offering breakfast burritos, hot lunches and cold beverages.
