Philpot resigns San Luis post
SAN LUIS, Ariz. - Jeff Philpot, assistant to the city administrator who has served the past two years as acting administrator, is resigning.
His last day with the city is Friday, Nov. 27.
In a letter of resignation given to the mayor, city council and new City Administrator Ralph Velez, Philpot said he was leaving for personal reasons, confirmed the city's public relations officer, Karin Meza.
Phipot declined requests for an interview.
Philpot joined the city in 2006 when he was hired as assistant to then-City Administrator Lee Maness.
Philpot became acting administrator after Maness resigned for health reasons in August 2007. Philpot continued in that role until last month, when the city council hired Velez, the former city manager of Calexico, Calif., as administrator.
City employees were notified of Philpot's resignation on Tuesday, Meza said.
Meza said city officials have not discussed whether to refill the post.
