City to launch annual Neighborhood Clean-up
It may still be winter in other parts of the country, but it's spring cleaning time in Yuma with the approach of the city's annual Neighborhood Clean-up.
That's a good time for residents within the city to get rid of their unwanted items, such as broken furniture, old appliances, tree trimmings and landscaping clippings.
Over the next several weeks, employees of the Public Works Department will move through various neighborhoods in the city to pick up the items at no cost to the residents. This program is only open to city residents.
Here is the schedule for the pick ups:
• Area 1 — Jan. 30-Feb. 2, Colorado Street to West Main Canal and Avenue A to west city limits
• Area 2 — Feb. 6-9, West Main Canal to 8th Street and East Main Canal to west city limits
• Area 3 — Feb. 13-16, Colorado Street to 8th Street and East Main Canal to east city limits
• Area 4 — Feb. 21-23, 8th Street to 16th Street and East Main Canal to west city limits
• Area 5 — Feb. 27-March 1, 8th Street to 16th Street and East Main Canal to east city limits
• Area 6 — March 5-8, 16th Street to 24th Street and East Main Canal west city limits
• Area 7 — March 12-15, 16th Street to 24th Street and East Main Canal to Pacific Avenue
• Area 8 — March 19- 22, East Main Canal to west City limits and 24th Street to south city limits
• Area 9 — March 26-29, East Main Canal to Pacific Ave and 24th Street to south city limits
• Area 10 — April 2-5, Pacific Avenue to east city limits and 16th Street to south city limits
Residents are asked to place all items at the curb for collection. Items must be placed at the pick-up spot at the beginning of the area's designated week. Items should not be places too close to trash containers or block water meters.
Loose items must be bagged, boxed or tied, and must be easily handled by two people. (Not to exceed 50 pounds.)
Separate piles of appliances, tires, bound limbs and miscellaneous items for easier handling. These separate piles will be picked up by different crews.
No items are to be put in the alley, with the exception of homes facing Avenue A.
